It has been Twittered all week that the blog is dead. Hell, if its on Twitter it must be right?

So Virtual Tourist is now moving to my wiki - I use it as my filing cabinet too - so lots of added goodies in and around there!!

I would love to ‘blog’ on a page in a commuity wiki. It would be great to host conversations all focussed around a community of bloggers. I wonder if that would be possible - I suppose the creation of communities suggests a degree of interaction between the bloggers. Other than that having a page each to think out loud on would be a great way of sharing ad hoc thoughts and ramblings……

Have I now made it totally obvious I just don’t get blogging? I am so in need of a response a reaction anything and a monologue just doesn’t cut it for me. I know you can comment after the event but thats not interactive thats post event critique. So - how to host a conversation?

Right back to twitter, which is in its massive way a communal blog.

I could reallly use one of those. The netbook revolution is here! Although I am working on a Studio laptop at the moment - because I really am working at screen captureemoticon - I would normally be working on my neat little netbook. Talk about multi-pc ing

With the impending doom of Pownce ( similar functionality to Twitter ) I am askling myself if there is really a need for microblogging?

I am not a great user of Twitter - I find I am spreading myslef too thin with all the social media I keep playing with. I am ‘on’ Facebook but not liking the games - sending weird applications to so called ‘friends’ leaves me icecold - I exist on all the socail networks but am not active on any.

I suppose the nearest I get is my personal organiser wiki, which I use to aggregate the snippets that arrive through various RSS and email feeds. I suppse it is my personal virtual filing cabinet ( and as that it does need a clean out - blush)

I quite like Twine at the moment - only because I have a new friend on there that I really respectemoticon

But I think the New Year will see me clearing out my favourites list yet again and re evaluating the various media and what I want to continue with………

Still on eLearning at the moment……

Came accross the concept of trails on the net - this I find useful because of the way I gather and squirrel away information I find online. I start out using a basic search engine - usually google tbh (we have just completed a fantastic search core skills resource which will be released soon!) then I explore from links leaving a trial around the net. Hence the virtual tourist name.

Trailfire is a pro active tool which suggests and collates information so that you are not searching blind.

It also Fire allows you to create trails and add notes as to the snippets you found useful or the relevance or validation etc

Anyhow go see

Whilst nursing a broken ankle ( after all the years show jumping and eventing I slip on wet decking!!emoticon)I have been contemplating the concept of a Living CV.

Its a blog

An online record of your every move both career and personal, both your ambitions and your aspirations.

 Its perfect.

Its a timeline, without side, without artifice, without slant.

I will  be working on this concept…Blue Chip Bogs ……

eLearning and the rest…so:

how far do we take it? Do we host work books and assessments online and qualification online, or do we evade the issue of the written ( text based ) assessment and allow communication of information through different media representations?

Should students be llowed to present their papers in  podcast/video format ( native languages - Marc Prenzky - google him he’s worth itemoticon

A new blog announced today the start of a wiki based repository for historical scolarly works:

"

Docupedia will be a wiki-based encyclopedia of history designed to complement Wikipedia with expert historical scholarship.  Funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, it will be coordinated by the Zentrums für Zeithistorische Forschung Potsdam, and Humboldt-Universität Berlin’s Institut für Geschichtswissenschaften and Computer- und Medienservice.

The project hasn’t launched yet and apparently has no home page.  But today it launched a blog, and the first entry announces the project.  Read the announcement in German or Google’s English."

Docupedia   ( thanks to google translate from German )

What interests me is that they are using a wiki format as a repository? How cool is that!emoticon
